Baseema

Baseema saw her first belly dance performance in 2000 and she was hooked!
She found a teacher and started studying, right away.

In 2010 she found her love of FCBD® Style (formerly ATS®).  She studies with local  teachers and continues her education at workshops and dance festivals.
She received her Teacher Training certification in 2015 and became a Certified Studio® soon after.

Baseema was a proud member of Trade Route Dance Collective, New England's first regional ATS® collective with members stretching from Maine to Connecticut, from its start until its soft retirement.

During the pandemic, she was lucky enough to get together with two friends for in-person dance practices - these 3 friends decided to call themselves The Dance Nomads.  Mostly we enjoyed dancing with our swords.

As a soloist, Baseema enjoys dancing with swords.  Her greatest sword dance influence have been Melina from Daughters of Rhea, Sabine (who she has studied with multiple times), Belladonna, Melody Bustillos, and Virginie Violett.

She opened The Dance Space in 2017 to create a space for dance classes and other movement classes.  The studio became a victim of Covid and closed in 2020.
In 2022, Baseema started teaching weekly classes, again.

Knee health stopped her in her tracks for a bit, but her good friends kept the dance alive as Divergence Dance Collective.

Baseema isn't always a diva ... except when she is.
